117問：如何將安息日或主日守為聖日？
答：守安息日為聖，乃是：
（1） 整日合乎聖潔地安息（出20:8，10），不僅不犯 那些平常為罪的惡事，還要停止平日合乎上帝律法的俗世職業和娛樂（出16:25－28；尼13:15－22；耶17:21－22）；
（2） 並用全部時間，或與眾人，或在家中，敬拜上帝（賽58:13；路4:16；徒20:7；林前16:1－2； 詩92標題；賽66:23；利23:3），以此為賞心樂 事；
（3） 只有為著必須的工作和施行憐憫所佔的時間例外（太12:1－13）。
（4） 為此，我們要預備心靈，提前安排，殷勤作工，穩健節制，合乎時宜地迅速處理我們的俗世之事，使我們 可以更自由、更適宜地盡此日當盡的本分（出20:8；路23:54，56；出16:22，25－26，29；尼13:19）。

問117：如何守安息日或主日為聖日？
答：守安息日或主日為聖日，應當整天都守聖潔的安息，不單是禁戒平時為罪惡的事情，甚至也要禁止在其他六日視為合法的世俗工作與娛樂。除了必須與憐憫的工作之外，應當喜樂的將全日時間用來，與眾人在教會中和個人在家中敬拜上帝。為了達此目的，我們應當預備己心，事先勤勉與節制的安排，按時處理好我們的世務，以致我們能更自由與合宜的在主日盡本分。

So the merchants and sellers of all kind of ware lodged without Jerusalem once or twice. Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? if ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the sabbath. And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy. Jeremiah 17:21-22. Thus saith the LORD; Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem; Neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the sabbath day, neither do ye any work, but hallow ye the sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers.
