38問：為什麼這一中保必須是上帝呢？
答：這一中保必須是上帝，
（1）如此祂才能維繫並保持其人性，不至於在上帝的無限憤怒和死亡的權勢之下沉淪（徒2:24－25；羅1:4，比較羅4:25；來 9:14）；
（2）使祂的受苦、順服和代禱有價值和果效（徒20:28；來9:14；7:25－28）；
（3）滿足上帝的公義（羅3:24－26），獲得祂的 恩寵（弗1:6；太3:17），贖買一群特定的子民（多2:13－14），把祂的靈 賜給他們（加4:6），征服他們所有的仇敵（路1:68－69，71，74）， 使他們永遠得救（來5:8－9；9:11－15）。
